Terms
Terms of use
Effective 28 October 2026
These terms cover your use of chrcl.app, the AI Report Card (“chrcl”, “we”), run by HexaOrigin LLC. By using the site you agree to them. If you buy a membership or bid for a sponsorship, the parts on billing and sponsorship apply to you too.
1. The service
Each morning we publish a graded digest of the previous day's news about AI, compute, energy, nuclear, fusion and quantum. Anyone can read the day's grade and its top stories for free. A membership adds the full story list, the reasons behind each rating, the council and ledger detail, the archive, search and downloads. Every reading view (executive brief, general, hobbyist, professional and expert) comes with the same access; the views differ only in depth and wording. How the report is made.
2. Your account
You sign in with a link we email you, so keep your email account secure. An account is for one person. You must be at least 16 to create an account, and an adult who can make a binding contract to buy a membership or bid for a sponsorship.
3. Membership and billing
- Price. Membership costs the price shown on the plans page when you join, plus any tax that applies. Stripe processes the payment.
- Renewal. Your plan renews automatically each month or year until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time under Account → Manage billing. You keep member access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. We don't refund part-used periods, except where the law requires it.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, member access pauses until the payment goes through. Stripe retries the card over the following days, and you can update it under Manage billing.
- Price changes. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you choose.
4. Using the report
The report, its ratings, wording and artwork are ours. You may read it, use it for your own work, and quote short passages with credit to chrcl and a link. Members may use downloads for their own or their organisation's internal work. Please don't republish or resell whole editions or the paid sections, share your account, or copy the site in bulk with automated tools. Stories link to their original sources, which belong to their publishers.
5. Accuracy, and no advice
The report is written and rated with AI models and checked by independent agents, but it can still contain mistakes. Ratings are editorial judgements, not facts. Nothing on the site is financial, investment, legal or other professional advice, including the market and investment figures. When we find an error we correct it in a later edition and say so; we don't silently change past editions.
6. Sponsorship
Two places in each edition, the presenting and feature slots, are sold in a sealed auction for the next morning's edition. How sponsorship works. If you bid:
- The auction. Bids are sealed: no bidder sees another's bid or identity. The auction closes at 8 pm US Eastern time the evening before the edition, and new bids must be placed at least 35 minutes before that. Only bids whose material has been approved by the close take part. The highest approved bid wins and pays the second-highest approved bid plus $1, or the reserve if it was the only bid ($250 for the presenting slot and $100 for the feature slot), and never more than its own bid. Equal bids go to the one placed first. Bids may be up to $100,000. You can have one live bid per slot; a new bid replaces the old one.
- Payment. When you bid, your card is authorised for the full amount but not charged. If you win, we charge the winning price at the close and release the rest. If you don't win, the whole hold is released.
- Your material. You confirm you have the rights to everything you submit, that it is accurate and lawful, and that your landing page is too. Before any payment, we check the files and links automatically and have Claude review the copy and images, and our editor approves each sponsorship before it runs. We can decline or remove material at any time if it breaks these terms or our standards. If we remove an approved sponsorship for any other reason, we refund what you paid for it.
- What we don't accept. Political, gambling, weapons, crypto-investment or adult advertising, and anything malicious, deceptive, hateful, threatening or unethical.
- Independence. Sponsors buy before the edition is written and have no say in any story or rating. When an edition covers a sponsor, readers are told beside the sponsorship. We don't guarantee any number of readers or clicks.
7. Fair use of the site
Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's security or paywall, submit malware, or pretend to be someone else. We can suspend accounts that do.
8. Changes and ending
We may change, add or remove features. You can stop using chrcl at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see the privacy notice). If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll post the new version here with its date and email members before it applies to them.
9. Our responsibility
We provide the site as it is, without promises that it will always be available or error-free. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, USA. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in New York County, New York, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.
